ABOUT ME

Ever since I was a kid I have always had an interest in cameras, video production and photography.  When at school this interest led me to pursue any opportunity to be involved with filming and photographing school events and productions.

I began my career in television at GTV - Channel 9 Melbourne, working in their production camera department and I had the pleasure of working on many studio-based productions and outside broadcasts. Walking the corridors of the station (lined with photos of past and present TV personalities) I always felt a sense of privilege to be contributing to the history and tradition that had been created during their then 50 year history of the station. This was especially the case when working in the iconic “Studio 9.”

After some time had passed, a unique opportunity presented itself and I was offered a job at the Seven Network in a more technical role. The challenge of furthering myself and expanding my knowledge and skillset appealed to me so I accepted the role and began working in Master Control at the Seven Broadcast Centre in Docklands. This was primarily a transmission playout facility but also consisted of two studios, one of which was dedicated to News and the other was used for small to medium scale productions.

It was an extremely steep learning curve working in Master Control but it gave me the diligence to work quickly and utilize my technical problem solving skills in a high pressure environment. This opportunity saw me working on some of Australia’s biggest national live television broadcasts including the 2008 Beijing and 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Another role I had was working as a Technical Director, overseeing the technical requirements of the studios and control rooms for live multi-camera productions. Given my background in production I naturally gravitated towards this role.

I have now worked in the television industry for over ten years and to this day I still have an affinity towards television production and film-making. I maintain my interest in Cinematography by working as a Cinematographer on a range of projects including short films, documentaries and corporate video.

I also maintain my interest in photography by shooting everything from glamour portraits to landscapes and travel.

I believe that we never stop learning and I am always enthusiastic about furthering my knowledge and experience. For this reason I have since completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Film & Television and I am also a full member of the Australian Cinematographers Society.
